PERMALLOY

Permalloy is a high-performance soft magnetic alloy composed mainly of nickel and iron, with a wide adjustable Ni content range (30%–90%). It offers excellent magnetic properties and workability, making it an essential material in electronics, communications, precision measurement, and electromagnetic applications.

Product Categories & Common Grades

Classified by nickel content:
Category    Ni Content Range                             Feature Summary
Class I            35% ~ 40%            General-purpose magnetic properties, cost-effective
Class II           45% ~ 50%                   Balanced performance and price
Class III          50% ~ 65%                                Higher permeability
Class IV         70% ~ 81%                  Maximum magnetic sensitivity and performance
Popular Grades:
  • 1J50: Ideal for 400–8000Hz high-frequency transformers; high permeability, low loss
  • 1J79: Well-balanced properties for high-frequency, low-voltage applications
  • 1J85: Initial permeability >100,000; suited for low-signal sensing and precision electronics
  • 1JL0 (Cryogenic Grade): Maintains high permeability at 2–77K, perfect for superconducting magnetic shielding systems such as synchrotron radiation and FEL cavities

NOTES:
  1. The type, thickness, and diameter of raw materials can be customized according to customer requirements.
  2. The magnetic properties of Permalloy are highly dependent on the annealing process and can be adjusted to meet user specifications.
  3. Physical properties such as density, Curie temperature, saturation magnetostriction coefficient, resistivity, hardness, and strength vary with the alloy grade and can be provided upon request.

Key Technical Features

  • High magnetic permeability: Ideal for high-sensitivity magnetic components
  • Low core loss: Enhances energy efficiency
  • Minimal magnetostriction: High stability with low magnetic interference
  • Good machinability and weldability: Compatible with various manufacturing processes
  • Excellent corrosion resistance: High-nickel grades perform well in typical environments
  • Compact and efficient: Enables smaller, high-efficiency component designs
⚠ Note: After annealing, permalloy becomes highly sensitive to mechanical stress. Avoid bending, impact, or excessive assembly force to maintain optimal magnetic performance.
